2022 ANNUAL MEETING

Please join the Conference of California Public Utilities Counsel at its 2022 Annual Meeting on May 1 - 3, 2022 at the Chaminade Resort & Spa in Santa Cruz, CA.

We are very excited about this year's conference, the first in-person event our organization will be holding in over two years!  The conference will include 9+ hours of CLE including presentations on:  (1) Diversity Equity and Inclusion in the Law (Special Speaker that will allow you to obtain the new 2022 CA. State Bar requirement for "Implicit Bias" subcategory under Elimination of Bias); (2) Remote Practice at the CPUC; (3) Civility in the Practice of Utilities Law; (4)  Pivoting Past the Pandemic: Work-Life Balance for Legal Professionals; (5) Update on Recent Appellate Court Decisions Important to the Utilities; (6) Industry-focused panels including Energy, Water, and Telecommunication issues and (7) Discussion with CPUC General Counsel, Christine Hammond, during the Fireside Chat.

In addition, the conference will include several social events to connect and catch-up with colleagues, including a kick-off dinner on May 1; lunch on May 2 following the morning CLE panels, and happy hour the evening of May 2. The Young Utility Lawyers (YUL) will host an event following the Monday reception.

COVID SAFETY PROTOCOLS for the CCPUC

While universal masking requirements have been lifted, current state, county, and local public health guidelines for COVID-19 strongly recommend masking indoors during large gatherings and meetings regardless of an individual’s vaccination status.   To ensure your safety, the safety of small children, active seniors in our family, and the immune-compromised, we encourage conference attendees to be fully vaccinated and recommend that everyone wear mask indoors during the conference, consistent with public health guidelines.

Please reserve your room at the hotel before  Friday, April 8, 2022 to receive our special group rate.  The hotel is offering CCPUC attendees a special room rate of:

 $310.19 – CCPUC Group Room Rate

($259 rate + $18.50 (50% discount tax/resort fee) +11% Occupancy +$4.20)

$164.78 – Government/Non-Profit Rate Rooms (Special reserved list - details below)

($128 rate + $18.50 (50% discount tax/resort fee) +11% Occupancy + $4.20)

We have 25 rooms available for Saturday (4/30) as well.

We have several rooms blocked at the resort for government/public interest attendees at the rate of $164.78; if you are interested in reserving a government/non-profit rate room, please contact Shera Smith at shera.smith@yahoo.com.  Please state 1) attendee name, any guest, 2) the check-in and check-out dates and 3) type of bed (King, Queens, etc.).  These rooms are on a first come, first served basis. After reserving on the list, you can call hotel to guarantee with a credit card.  A waiting list will be kept for possible cancellations and replacements  if all rooms are taken.

Opening Sunday Dinner Reception.  There will be an Opening  Dinner Reception for attendees and guests at the Chaminade on Sunday, May 1st from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.  The Strolling Dinner is included in attendees’ conference fees.  Guests are welcome for an additional charge as follows:
